Addressing Inequities in Pain Management

Pain is a universal cause of morbidity and disability, with high health burden and economic costs in the United States (US) and worldwide. Effective pain management is recognized as an essential component of caring for patients with pain, yet numerous gaps in pain care exist. Individuals experiencing pain should receive care without inequity or disparity in treatment access or approaches, and greater understanding of the issues by clinicians will lead to more effective pain management.
